TagoreTech’s India team is looking for a motivated IC Layout Engineer. In this role, you will convert complex circuit designs into physical layouts, collaborating with circuit designers in Kolkata and the US to ensure performance, power, and area (PPA) goals are met while following design rules. You will also work on the PCB layout for application reference designs and product evaluation boards. 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞: Full-Time 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Kolkata, (Salt Lake Sector V). India 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒: 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: 1. Create accurate and efficient physical layouts of integrated circuits, including standard cells, macros, and full-chip designs. 2. Utilize industry-standard layout tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, ADS, MWO) to implement complex layout structures. 3. Adhere to strict design rules, Tiling rules, and good RF layout practices Implement good substrate noise isolation practices for the triple well process 4. Floor planning and Reticle layout planning 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1. Conduct thorough layout verification using various tools (e.g., DRC, LVS, PEX) to identify and resolve design rule violations and potential issues. 2. Analyze layout parasitic effects and optimize the design to minimize performance degradation. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1. Work closely with circuit designers to understand design intent and resolve layout-related challenges. 2. Collaborate with other engineering teams (e.g., process, test, and packaging) to ensure seamless integration of the chip into the overall system. 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 1. Create clear and concise documentation of layout design, verification, and sign-off procedures. 2. Maintain up-to-date design libraries and process design kits (PDKs). 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 1. Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and IC layout principles. 2. Proficiency in industry-standard layout tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Laker). 3. Experience with physical verification tools (e.g., DRC, LVS, PEX). 4. Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design. 5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 6. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: 1. Experience with advanced layout techniques, such as hierarchical design, floor planning, and power distribution network design. 2. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL) for automation and customization. 3. Experience with statistical static timing analysis (SSTA). 4. Familiarity with emerging technologies - 3D ICs and advanced packaging. I'm excited to share that I had participated in a workshop on "PCB Designing and Fabrication" at the National Level Technical Symposium, PINNACLE 2K24, organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, ECE Association, IETE Students' Forum, and IE(I) Students' Chapter at Coimbatore Institute of Technology. This workshop, conducted by Enthu Technology, Coimbatore, provided a valuable introduction to the world of PCB design and fabrication. Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are the foundation of most modern electronic devices. They serve as the platform for connecting electronic components using conductive tracks, pads, and vias etched onto a laminated insulating material. PCB design involves translating a circuit schematic into a functional PCB layout, ensuring proper component placement, routing considerations, and signal integrity. Fabrication transforms this digital design into a physical PCB through a series of processes like photolithography, etching, and drilling. The workshop equipped me with a foundational understanding of these key concepts. I gained insights into various PCB design tools and software, along with the crucial fabrication steps that bring electronic designs to life.
