Many hiring managers don't know what they're hiring for. As a candidate with deep expertise in the field, you might be best placed to rewrite the job description and recommend pay adjustments accordingly. For example there are probably a lot of data analyst roles out there that should actually be data product management roles. How do you do go about upgrading a role? You need to first meet the criteria that they think they're hiring for so you can earn their trust to recommend an alternative. Some criteria to look for in companies that may be more open to such feedback: 1. They've recently raised a big funding round (and have more money than sense!) 2. They're going through a transformation (for example from a bricks and mortar business to a data business) 3. They're in-sourcing a new function that they used to outsource If I were in the market for a job in this environment, I'd be applying to jobs that are below my level and looking to elevate them. That way you create new supply and place yourself as the #1 option on the demand side. Don't try to compete. Try to outsmart.

Recruiting top-tier D&A talent is a sales effort.... Too many companies fail to recognise this Almost every post I see on here of someone sharing a job, does it wrong They talk about themselves (help us to do X, or, you must be able to do Y for us) The way organisations attract employees (especially in niche, candidate short areas) Should be the same in how they attract customers Sales and Marketing Yet, so many D&A employers just expect that they'll be able to hire great people whenever they want/need It's executed as an admin task If you want to attract great people to your D&A team stop talking about why it benefits you And start talking how it benefits them and their careers! #data #analytics #talentattraction
