Excited to share some insights on how to embark on the fulfilling journey of becoming a professional caregiver in the healthcare industry! 💼 Having walked this path myself, I can attest to the profound impact it can have, not just on those we care for, but also on our own lives. Here are a few steps to guide you along this rewarding career path: 1. Get Informed: Start by researching the field of caregiving. Understand the various roles, responsibilities, and qualifications required. It's crucial to have a clear picture of what to expect and what is expected of you. 2. Get educational training: While a formal education in healthcare or nursing can be beneficial, it's not always mandatory. Many caregivers receive on-the-job training or pursue certification programs to enhance their skills. Look for reputable training programs or workshops to equip yourself with the necessary knowledge and expertise. 3. Gain Experience: Hands-on experience is invaluable in this field. Consider volunteering at local nursing homes, hospitals, or caregiving agencies to gain practical experience and insight into the daily routines and challenges faced by caregivers. 4. Go for soft skills: Compassion, patience, empathy, and good communication skills are essential traits for caregivers. Focus on honing these skills as they are just as important as technical knowledge. 5. Networking & Mentorship: Connect with experienced caregivers or professionals in the healthcare industry. Their guidance and mentorship can provide invaluable advice and support as you navigate your career path. 6. Updated: The healthcare industry is constantly evolving with new technologies, treatments, and best practices. Stay abreast of the latest developments through continued education, seminars, and networking events. 7. lastly Seek Certification: While certification may not be mandatory in all caregiving roles, obtaining relevant certifications can enhance your credibility and marketability in the industry. Remember, being a caregiver is not just a job; it's a calling. It requires dedication, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. If you're passionate about helping others and making a positive impact, caregiving could be the perfect career path for you! #Caregiving #HealthcareProfessionals #CareerAdvice #PersonalDevelopment #EmpathyInAction I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below! and if you are looking for a care certificate training! we are just a button away💬

Mandatory training – what do those words conjure up for you? Having joined a new trust this year, I had a shed load of mandatory training to wade through. And wade I did, ticking boxes, getting my certificates, wondering whether this was in any way going to help me perform my job better. To be fair, I’m a bit long in the tooth now, so I have done such trainings many times over and am therefore very familiar with the general content. There were 2 exceptions this year – I hadn’t previously come across the patient stories in the autism/learning disability and dementia modules – and I found them both difficult to watch and very impactful. But this Guardian article caught my eye – it looks like there is hope on the horizon of an England-wide system of training to reduce time spent repeating the same thing, particularly helpful for doctors-in-training who are moving jobs regularly, and for doctors who work across more than one trust. Thoughts? #doctors #mandatorytraining #nhs https://lnkd.in/dHcUDY4g

What happens in your senior nurse or AHP role when you believe your values are very different to those around you? You may feel like your colleagues are on a different wave length to you, or maybe you feel like you are on the outside of the team looking in. What sort of questions crop up that you never ask? Can you expect everyone to think like you? Of course not, you are all different, with your own life experiences, upbringing, cultures and social circumstances, that have shaped your belief systems. Somehow or another you need to be able to get on, in order to maintain that professional continuation of patient care. I feel very strongly that you have the skills to be able to manage and improve these situations. You’ve all heard about staff leaving their jobs because of the people around them, hoping the grass is greener elsewhere. That doesn’t need to be the outcome when you love your job. I can assure you there are ways of improving the cohesiveness of your team without compromising your own integrity. If you would like to know more, DM me and let’s have a conversation. #seniornurse #AHP #coaching

arouse curiosity and provide value 🥰 Title: The unexpected question that changed my approach to patient care body: When I was in a hospital while I was in training, a patient asked me something I had never thought about before: “What brings you joy in your work?” 🤔 It stopped me in my tracks. Of course, I cared about my patients, but was I truly present, allowing emotion to fuel my practice? This question sparked a journey of self-reflection, leading me to prioritize e.g., listening more empathically, incorporating holistic approaches, etc.] Results? Deeper connections with patients, increased job satisfaction, and even improved outcomes. 🙌 What is the seemingly simple question that changed your career perspective? As senior nurses and AHP's, you are strong, caring, and professional at all times. You challenge practice in order to improve patient care when needed. You work in a team, collaborate with other disciplines, and crack on. Or maybe you don’t – not all the time. There are high stakes involved in healthcare to be competent and self-sufficient at all times. Yet sometimes it’s just too much to stick your head up above the parapet and risk showing how vulnerable you feel, potentially exposing a weakness. It might be a particular task, an incident, or a staffing issue. Or it might be a relationship problem with a colleague you are struggling to sort out. Whether it be power dynamics, hierarchical or personality variations, cultural, or generational differences. It's there. So, you keep your head down, and fret about it in the middle of the night. You turn up to work the next day, you rinse and repeat. It’s fine to talk about vulnerability when its other people, children or patients, but accepting it in yourself is a different matter. You might feel judged or be criticised if you start to talk about it. After all, you are supposed to be strong, caring and professional at all times…. What’s the fall out of this? How comfortable and safe do you feel in sharing your feelings, to have those open communications with someone? Do you get emotional, defensive or shut down and just keep quiet? How is this affecting your work, your team, or your learning opportunities? Are you starting to feel detached, anxious, and uncomfortable going to work? Be reassured, these are perfectly normal human reactions to a given situation. What if you could talk to someone objectively like me, outside of your usual network, to help you manage this? If this resonates with you drop me a message and let’s have a conversation.
