🚨 New research from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) Stroke Institute reveals racial and ethnic disparities in outcomes after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Read in full: https://lnkd.in/gw6ZZuy3 📊 The study found that Hispanic patients had a higher risk of cerebral infarction and symptomatic vasospasm compared to White patients, and non-White patients had worse functional outcomes at discharge. 🩺 These findings highlight the need for better understanding of risk factors and patient-centered management in aSAH care. #StrokeResearch #HealthEquity

🌟This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences, creating more inclusive and equitable cultures. Recent research by Dr. Jessica Eccles and Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) showed "further proof of a link between neurodivergence and physical health issues, demonstrating a direct relationship between hypermobility and increased pain and dysautonomia." Dr. Eccles, Lead Author, Clinical Senior Lecturer, and MQ Versus Arthritis Fellow at BSMS, said: “There are considerable barriers to healthcare for neurodivergent people – our research demonstrates that the need to reduce these barriers is even greater and opens up potential pathways for personalized care. “Health providers need to make improvements to their services to make them more accessible to neurodivergent patients. They also need to move beyond “exclusive” diagnostic categories and traditional boundaries between body and brain that can lead to siloed healthcare.” Read more about this study and find video resources on EDS, HSD, and neurodiversity at https://lnkd.in/eWpXy4pE

Tune in for final thoughts from Dr. James Udelson of Tufts Medical Center and Dr. Ian T. Meredith as we conclude our miniseries on the current clinical evidence behind #interatrialshunting. In our third installment, we discuss how #ALLAYHF incorporates insights from the REDUCE LAP-HF II (responder group) and RELIEVE-HF trials to further validate Alleviant's no-implant approach to shunting as a potential therapeutic option for #heartfailure. “We need to keep pursuing avenues that might benefit patients and follow the science.” - Dr. James Udelson

⏳ Redefining Recovery Timelines in MSK Care Clinical recovery should be measured in months or even years, not days. In the U.S., the average episode of care lasts 6 weeks—barely enough time to initiate physiological rebuilding. Most changes in the first 6 months are neurophysiological, where symptom behavior shifts before anatomical adaptations occur. As clinicians, we must avoid chasing the lowest-hanging fruit and empower patients to pursue complete, sustained recovery—not just fast results. 🧠💪 Education on structure and the importance of long-term change is critical to achieving meaningful outcomes. #MSK #PT #MSKRecovery #LongTermCare #SustainedChange #PatientEducation #HighValueCare #HealthcareInnovation #PhysiologicalHealing SPRY
