For as much of the so called debate as I could stomach, part of it was about tariffs which Harris decried as a tax on Americans and Trump correctly pointed out that her administration ironically kept. Now they are locking them in. A quick history study shows that prior to the introduction of the income tax in the early 1900's our country was funded almost exclusively by tariffs. Increasing tariffs allowed for the reduction of income taxes, helping drive record revenue for the Federal Govt. Tax consumption, not effort.
