YOU are too concerned about what was and what will be. Be like a kid. Don’t give a sh*t about what tomorrow will be. Live in the present. (𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦: 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦! I’m a pretty devout Mark Manson reader, and his weekly newsletter is one of my favourites. The format is simple—five minutes a week that might change your life. One of this week’s prompts, though, really got under my skin: "𝘽𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨, 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜." My immediate reaction? Annoyance. Having worked in #socialimpact for decades, my first thought was, 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘺, 𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘳, 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴, 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘦𝘴? It felt so tone-deaf in the context of the world’s challenges right now. I sat with that discomfort for a bit, made a coffee (as one does), and let the caffeine—and my frustration—settle. Then it hit me. It’s not about dismissing or minimizing anyone’s pain or the structural inequities perpetuating it. It’s about recognizing that for those of us who have the privilege to reflect, learn, and grow from our challenges, there’s an opportunity—and perhaps even a responsibility—to harness those lessons for something greater. This is why I love #coaching so much - it helps us to channel those struggles into meaningful action. Maybe your struggle is navigating #burnout in your work. Maybe it’s recovering from #failure or finding #purpose amidst uncertainty. Those aren’t easy things to face, but they launch the seriously hard work for growth and clarity—if we’re willing to look for them. For me, the takeaway wasn’t to diminish struggles but to acknowledge the potential within them for personal and #collectivechange. Thanks, Mark. I really do enjoy your newsletter, even when it’s upsetting me. 😊 #SocialImpact #GrowthMindset #ProfessionalDevelopment #Leadership
Be grateful for your struggles, because within them is the opportunity for growth and meaning.

It is sometimes so easy to get caught up in the everyday stresses and worries life brings that we forget to notice all the amazing things in our lives. This is especially true on those days you feel like NOTHING is going right. That’s why it’s important to have a grateful list as it will remind you of the things you are thankful for and how truly blessed you are. They put bad days in perspective and help you to keep a better overall picture on what is truly going on in your life and what is truly important. Why not start one this week and write down 5 things you are grateful for each night. Take the challenge and see if your perspective on things starts to shift.🙏
