The concept of innovation has been part of human progress for centuries, but it started to be regularly noticed by the general media during the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Media attention increased during the Second Industrial Revolution with the introduction of groundbreaking technologies like electricity and the internal combustion engine. After World War II, innovation became linked with economic growth and global competition, receiving further media focus during the Cold War's space race.
