"Artificial intelligence, and LLMs in particular, are significantly enhancing the severity of phishing attacks, and we can expect a sharp increase in both the quality and quantity of phishing in the years to come. When targeting human users, AI disproportionately benefits attackers by making it easier and more cost-effective to exploit psychological vulnerabilities than to defend and educate users." #cybersecurity #AI #phishing

AI brings great advances, but those advances can also be used for harm. We must ensure security advances using AI outreach the negative uses. “research demonstrates that the entire phishing process can be automated using LLMs, which reduces the costs of phishing attacks by more than 95% while achieving equal or greater success rates.” #ai #artificialintelligence #cyber #cybersecurity

While we're using AI to assist us with our communications, bad actors are also using it to enhance the quality of their #phishing scams. "AI-enabled cyberattacks exploiting human vulnerabilities remain a strong concern. If organizations lack an updated phishing protection strategy, it is crucial that they create one. Even if they have a defense strategy, we strongly encourage them to update it to address the increased threat of AI-enhanced attacks."

Generative AI has made it dramatically easier and more cost effective for bad actors to push out higher quality phishing attempts at scale. With the barrier to entry so low, no organization is safe from phishing in its inbox. I'm glad to see publications like HBR raising awareness about this issue for a wide audience. Most phishing attempts can be thwarted with the right training and awareness, so articles like this one can go a long way toward keeping our organizations secure. #Cybersecurity #Phishing #CyberAwarenessTraining

Scammers have learnt how to use AI to their advantage and are generating phishing e-mail that could fool most of us!! Worryingly, 60% of participants in a recent research exercise fell prey to AI-automated phishing — a number comparable to the success rates of scams created by human experts. These automated attacks are set to increase in quality and quantity over the next few years, so it’s of critical importance that companies are aware of these increased threats and respond accordingly. Start by confirming your current phishing awareness routines, then look at ways to continuously improve and expand these, to keep track with the increased sophistication of scammers. #AI #hacking #cybersecurity
