What is your Elevator Pitch? In today's fast-paced world, you have mere seconds to make a lasting impression. Whether it's during a brief elevator ride or a chance encounter, having a compelling story about yourself is crucial. We spend so much time perfecting our resumes and cover letters, but what if you had just two minutes with the CEO or CMO of your dream company? How would you capture their attention? Creating a powerful personal story requires reflection and clarity. Here are key questions to help you shape your narrative: ⚡️ What core values do you represent? ⚡️ Who benefits most from your work? ⚡️ What is your proudest accomplishment? ⚡️ Can you describe a time when you made a significant impact? ⚡️ What do others frequently seek your advice or expertise on? Write down your responses and blend them into a cohesive paragraph. Take a break, then revisit and refine it. Finally, share it with a trusted friend for feedback. Remember, a well-crafted elevator pitch can open doors. Need help? Send me a DM, and let's work on it together. #elevatorpitch #careerbranding #careercoaching

Among the things we talk about with all of our Clarkson Construction Engineering Management Program students, is how to set yourself up for success by being out in front. Sam Spata speaks to this in the post below. Rarely is it asked for, but the cover letter you write is THE spot to put the best foot forward. Whether it is our #ClarksonU Associated Schools of Construction #Construction #Management SPEED teams or our MSCEM graduate students, they can get you zeroed in on what makes the difference in how they communicate from the outset. #LetsGoTech #WeBuildYourFuture
Effective pursuits begin with the cover letter. Comply with requested terms and conditions. The first selection pass is a process of elimination. But ticking all the boxes is a response strategy; leaders pursue a win strategy. To make the short list, write the cover letter first. Define the problem in words your customer will recognize. Present a unique ability to deliver value. Highlight personal relationships. Build enthusiasm and set a theme that connects all support materials. The cover letter is an indicator of success potential. If you can’t draft a persuasive message in a few sentences, then a hundred pages of boilerplate won’t deliver a win. #lean #methodlean #clarkson

"Please, start from the end." I ask my friend each time she begins a story. She can talk for too long, with many twists and turns. Typically, she loses her track in the third sentence. So where exactly did we start? After all that background information, Four side-stories and an extra bonus chapter, She simply cannot remember how she started. I used to do the same. Getting lost in my stories. Now I consciously tell the end right at the beginning. Before starting all the interesting side chapters. People don't have much time these days. Always aim for an elevator pitch. Your resume must fit on a single page. Your presentation shouldn't last more than 15 minutes. A meeting should not exceed more than 1 hour. People are busy. Get straight to the point. Respect the time of others. START from the END. #storytelling #StartFromTheEnd
