Horizon Europe is the largest RDI programme in the world with 95BN Euro, and the offshore wind industry can get funding from several calls 🇪🇺 Norwegian Offshore Wind organized a workshop in Kristiansand on Horizon Europe calls relevant for offshore wind companies. The workshop consisted of presentation of relevant calls, and pitches from Norwegian, UK, Belgian and Italian stakeholders targeting relevant calls in Horizon Europe. The workshop covered presentation and discussion on the following Horizon Europe calls: 🔹 HORIZON-CL5-2024-D3-02-08 - Minimisation of environmental, and optimisation of socio-economic impacts in the deployment, operation and decommissioning of offshore wind farms 🔹 HORIZON-CL5-2024-D3-02-09 - Demonstrations of innovative floating wind concepts 🔹 HORIZON-CL5-2025-D3-06 - Innovative manufacturing of wind energy technologies 🔹 HORIZON-CL5-2025-D3-07 Improved reliability and optimised operations and maintenance for wind power systems HORIZON-CL5-2025-D3-08 Understand and minimise the environmental impacts of offshore wind energy -The first two calls with deadline in the first half of 2025 are great opportunities for Norwegian companies and research organizations to demonstrate innovative solutions, create partnerships and establish supply chain. This can subsequently position the companies in relevant markets across Europe, says Tor Arne Johnsen EU-advisor in NOW. He underscores that positioning into these calls takes a long time and should start now. Chart of the week: as countries work toward meeting their 2030 offshore wind installation capacity targets, total installed offshore wind turbines will exceed 28,000 globally by 2030, up from just over 13,000 in 2023. Europe held the top spot for turbine installations until 2022, but China surpassed it in 2023 due to the high level of installations in the previous two years. We expect China to continue to be the leading country in installing the most offshore wind turbines by the end of this decade, followed by the UK and Germany. Meet our experts at #WindEnergyHamburg2024 later this month to hear more about the development of the global wind industry. 📣 #DIDYOUKNOW? Europe and the APAC region are driving the growth of offshore wind, making up 99.9% of total global offshore wind capacity. With 41 GW in APAC and 34 GW in Europe. The two regions will continue to grow their capacity over the next decade. 🌍 Although Europe has lost its world leading position to APAC in total installed offshore wind capacity, it remains the world’s largest market for floating wind and the technology hub for floating wind turbines and foundations. 🔽 Read more about an exciting decade ahead for offshore wind in GWEC's Global Offshore Wind Report 2024: https://lnkd.in/eHgG4vYP

The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has awarded nearly 1.9 GW of offshore wind capacity in its latest auction round. 4 projects were awarded government subsidies including 3 fixed-bottom windfarms, while Equinor’s Firefly project was the sole bidder and winner in the auction’s floating wind category. Over 3 GW of offshore wind capacity has now secured offtake in South Korea, with the government looking to award contracts for up to 8 GW of offshore wind capacity by mid-2026. See Renewables Intelligence Network (www.clarksons.net/rin) for further data and intelligence on the South Korean auction and the wider offshore wind sector.

🌏 Ahead of the #APACWindEnergySummit, between 26-28 November 2024, we're taking a look at each of the markets in Asia-Pacific where Corio is developing offshore wind projects. Next up, Taiwan ⬇️ Taiwan is one of the largest offshore wind markets in Asia, aiming to deliver an additional 15 GW of offshore wind from 2026 to 2035. As one of the largest offshore wind markets in Asia, Taiwan is aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Offshore wind is set to play a significant role in achieving this target. As one of the world’s leading offshore wind developers, Corio Generation is expertly placed to support the energy transition in Taiwan. Our team led the development and construction of two operating offshore wind farms in Taiwan, Formosa 1 and Formosa 2. Today Corio Generation is jointly developing the Formosa 3 project with TotalEnergies in Taiwan, a planned multi-phase offshore wind projectoff the coast of Changhua County on Taiwan’s central-western coast.
