Camp Meraki 2024 is a wrap. Team building, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, meditation, yoga, nature walks, campfire, sing alongs, quiz games, we did it all!
We can't even begin to thank everyone who made it a success. First, thank you to John Knox Ranch and its staff. We have long been fans and you can't beat the beauty, the professionalism and oh my goodness the amazing food!
Thank you to Tammy Solt Mills and Denise Berry who served as our AIC staff. Not only were they a ton of fun, they facilitated yoga, meditation/mindfulness and henna designs. They went above and beyond and their energy was a gift to camp and always to AIC.
Finally, thank you to our amazing campers! We were so thrilled to meet you all. Each of you bringing your own special energy to the group. We hope that you all made new friends and had a time of renewal and fun! A big special thank you to Bobby who brought his drum and shared an incredible closing ceremony by the campfire.
It gave us great joy to share John Knox Ranch, a very special place to us with our new friends. We hope to share more in the future!

Acro Yoga, Sound Healing, and Meditation Workshop
Location: Unity Eco Village, Chapakot-23, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Nepal

This is something I have been focusing on a lot in my own practice recently!!
Brahmacharya is one of the yamas (the first limb of the eight limbs of yoga).
It has many interpretations, but I like to see it as "right use of energy".
Making this personal to me, I apply it on and off the yoga mat.
It's no secret that I have anxiety and yoga helps me massively with it. But it's not enough to just practice on the mat. If I just do that, the result is that I feel wonderful when doing my practice, ie calm, focused, peaceful ... But when practice is over and I go on with my day my natural habits and tendencies (we call these our samskaras in yoga) creep back in and I get anxious and tense in situations where it isn't really called for and definitely not useful! 🤔😯😬 ...
Doing yoga poses, breathing, practicing meditation is really helpful, but what is important is that we take these teachings off the mat and bring our yoga into our life. 💙💙💙
The yamas & niyamas help us to do that.
I have been weaving these, plus a little more yoga philosophy into the classes I have taught during September & October.
A few tips:
💙 Be more aware of how your body feels moment to moment.
💙 Be more aware of your breath moment to moment.
💙 Be more aware of where your mind is at - moment to moment.
💙 If the energy in your body doesn't feel appropriate for the situation or task at hand - eg feeling over stimulated/excited/anxious when out for a walk, or having lunch with a friend etc, do something to calm your nervous system and then check back in.
