What about environmentally friendly products? My suppliers are having to change what they supply, as public awareness about the environment and attitudes about single-use plastic, and other problem areas, are at last making a difference. This means that, although it is a small start, I will be able to offer a great many products, which are recycled, or recycle-able. There are now many products, such as pens and bags that have been made from recycled bottles or CDs etc. There are pens made from corn starch or bamboo, and there are plastic carrier bags which are biodegradable. Please ask for green ideas and I will be able to come up with some really nice products for consideration. 📞 01295 259608 | 07932 164663 ✉️ steve@agproducts.co.uk

In our effort to better understand our position in achieving a #CircularEconomy and moving away from bottom-heavy processes in the waste hierarchy, Oakdene Hollins has produced articles on various sectors of our work. In this article, we look at one of these: #packaging. Packaging plays a vital role in the world of commerce and trade; whose diverse functions go beyond simply containing, protecting, and preserving products. Nowadays, packaging also serves to communicate, promote, and facilitate transactions for products. With its ability to provide visceral cues, packaging can inspire consumer perception and behaviour towards the product including its EoU and EoL treatment. This composition marks the work of over 150 years of design and function development which has carefully synergised the functions of commerce, business and policy. In the wake of pollution crises, the environmental agenda is now driving the packaging industry to take steps to become more circular. In a report for UKRI Innovate UK, Oakdene Hollins and Valpak Limited use an innovative futures methodology to project five future scenarios of packaging but which of these is most likely and, does it promote a circular economy? Read our article below and the report to find out more. https://lnkd.in/eK9zN8at https://lnkd.in/dk_paFK7 #PackagingFutures #plastic #plastics #sustainability #sustainabilityconsultancy #circulareconomyconsultants #circulareconomyconsultancy #consultants #innovation #packaginginnovation #sustainableinnovation #sustainabilityresearch #sustainabilitynews

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Can the same thing be said for sustainable packaging? When a packaging solution eliminates several pounds of unnecessary packaging from a produce pallet before the product is presented to the consumer, should it be valued any less than a primary package breakthrough? We think not. Check us out. #sustainablepackaging #netzero #recyclablepackaging https://lnkd.in/eR2q7ecd

Are you looking for a sustainable packaging for your product? Then you've come to the right place! With our stand-up pouches we help you to show your value. "Why are adelmo pouches sustainable, they're made of plastic, right?" We often hear this question. And we can understand that, because you're right. Our pouches are made of plastic - but that doesn't mean they can't be sustainable or are worse than glass or cans. We have developed a stand-up pouch that is made from plastic monomaterials and can be integrated up to 100% into existing recycling programmes ♻ In addition, stand-up pouches are environmentally friendly because they use less material than conventional packaging methods. And the up to 7x lower weight ensures more efficient logistics and less environmental impact during transport. The stand-up pouch also offers clear advantages for your warehousing. The storage area of unfilled pouches is up to 30 times smaller than that of unfilled cans or jars. So: our pouches not only protect the environment, but also your wallet. And they're a great packaging option that you can even customise to your wishes.

Why have many ambitious attempts to boost reusable packaging ultimately failed in the market? And what is actually needed to reduce single-use plastics? Matt Millington argues that only a consumer-centric approach where many systems click together to motivate, enable and ingrain behaviour change will get us there. Would love to see more examples where that has been achieved. #circulareconomy

"A shift from single-use packaging to reusables is one of the key tenets of a circular economy for plastics because it has the potential to eliminate waste and plastic pollution and keep packaging in high value use." This article explores and illustrates the four B2C reuse models in operation as well as a look at the B2B reusable packaging approaches in use. https://lnkd.in/gh8DSmAS #circulareconomy #circularity #circulardesign #wastemanagement

Last week, as I sat in on this insightful webinar about sustainable packaging, I was reminded of a crucial point that we often overlook when making purchasing decisions: the material we choose matters, but not in the way we may think. When we buy products made from or packaged in plastic, it’s easy to be swayed by terms like “plant-based plastic” or “biodegradable.” However, the reality is stark. Only about 9% of plastic globally gets recycled, and even then, it can only be recycled 1-2 times before it becomes waste. This means that regardless of the raw material, plastic continues to contribute to our environmental crisis. In contrast, stainless steel boasts an impressive 95% recycling rate and can be recycled infinitely without losing quality. This is a game-changer at least in our fight against waste and pollution. While there are many factors to consider when evaluating sustainability, we must not let “green language” mislead us. What are your thoughts on sustainable packaging? And material in general?
