REIMAGINING THE STATE WORKHOP I was not sure what to expect at this two day workshop where abstracts were sent based on our research and practice addressing this issue and a group selected to participate It was one of those moments which transforms your thinking and it articulated a wider systemic and instititional design around my work working on the commons at grassroots level. The frameworks and tools of: 1) State reinforced self governance framework- giving power to citizens and totally shifting power structures within the political system 2) Institutional Grammer as a forensic way to analyse regulations and policies 3) Polycentric governance - distributed and democratic governing These tools are very useful for grassroots practitioners and the State. What we as practitioners bring to these are embodied and applied knowledge which to my mind actually makes them operational. Commons are arenas of care as well as Ostrom’s tools and frameworks of governance Already meetings are happening for collaboration with the organisers https://lnkd.in/eM_s9nYX

The ILP at 100 As ILP members come together this month to celebrate the Institution's centenary, Richard Frost, Chief Executive for nearly a quarter of that period, reflects on his time at the helm. Richard writes - 'When I was asked to pen an article for the Institution's centenary his first thought was ' how do you summarise 24 years in 1,500 words?' The truth is of course you can't. So I hope friends and colleagues will forgive any omissions and mistakes which are entirely mine!' To read more of the article go to: https://ow.ly/UvTc50S9qkm

🧠 Can you create the future? Reflecting on a wonderfully thought-provoking and stimulating discussion yesterday evening hosted by International Association for Strategy Professionals UK - it was a pleasure being part of the panel and to speak on such an interesting topic. Thank you to my fellow panellists Eva Tomas Casado, J. Ignacio Canales and David Worsley. It was And of course to David Booth (FStratPS) for being a magnificent Master of Ceremonies! Some of my key takeaways for further reflection: 1. Strategy is psychology - as humans we’re desperately seeking to both control our environment and reduce uncertainty. In doing this we over-estimate on our ability to shape the future. What would a non-linear, more adaptive approach to goal-achievement look like? 2. Curiosity creates the future - the way we shape and create “new” futures is by blending separate and un-related concepts together to form something novel. Constant curiosity and psychological flexibility are essential skills for creating the future. 3. Consider a range of possible futures - we talk of predicting “the future” as if all moments lead deterministically from one to the other until the fulfilment of a single future. In fact, we should prepare for a huge range of possibilities; being honest with ourselves about what we can and can’t control. As always happens - curiosity, psychological flexibility and open conversation have paved the way for new insights and ways of thinking!

📔For our current issue of The Journal, our Design + Communications Lead Eriko Hattori and Finance + Operations Director Candace Opper did an in-depth profile on our work with CCAC. For this consulting project, TASC provided artwork to The CEIT at CCAC, CCAC’s new Center for Education, Innovation & Training. Many of the pieces in this new building were either commissioned or provided by those with connections to the institutions, whether it be as an alumni or member of the faculty. ☝️Head to the link here to learn more about this project and how it highlights the importance of labor recognition: https://lnkd.in/gaNrNqv5
