💙💙💙 November = Movember =Men’s Health Awareness. It’s the month where moustaches are grown or worn to remind us all that men’s health matters too. Prostrate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and more affect men, but we don’t talk about it enough. A great way to get men and everyone talking is to join in with these awareness months. Here’s some other tips: 💙 If you don’t want to / can’t grow a moustache, how about putting photos of moustaches around your workplace with details of support groups near you. 💙 Put a sanitary bin in men’s toilet to support those who use pads. 💙Join the #JGHRPledge and provide better cancer support in the workplace. These small steps could make a huge difference to someone. #Cancer #employeesupport #JGHRPledge #binsforboys #HR Prostate Cymru

Today is International Men’s Day – a day to proudly celebrate and support our everyday family heroes. At Matalan, we’re proud to launch our Men’s Health Network – a space dedicated to our colleagues, raising awareness, fostering conversations, and supporting the men in our teams and communities. Here are some hard-hitting facts to reflect on: • 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. • 3 out of 4 suicides are men, highlighting the urgent need for better mental health support. • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-49. These numbers remind us why talking, listening, and acting is crucial. The Men’s Health Network will provide a safe space with resources, conversations, and a sense of community for our colleagues, helping them feel supported in all aspects of their health. We’re stronger when we look out for each other. We proudly celebrate and support the everyday heroes who make our families, teams, and communities thrive. #InternationalMensDay #MensHealth #EverydayFamilyHeroes #LifeatMatalan

📽Jane Ngwenya, a young woman from Luveve, is a stage 4 breast cancer survivor whose positive mindset has been a major part of her journey. Even more inspiring is the strong support she received from family and friends throughout her battle with cancer. 🎀Her story reflects the many challenges patients face while trying to overcome heath-related ordeals in difficult conditions. Beyond poor health-care services, and financial challenges, limited support, patients also face the dilemma of choosing between traditional and modern medicine, which can delay the start of essential treatment. 🎀More so, and perhaps the most dangerous challenge of all has to do with limited knowledge on navigating the varying myths and community talk that arise around health challenges. Perhaps, sometimes the fear forces people to explore certain routes, but the question remains that amid such realities...what can be done to ensure that community members have access to reliable, and timely information, and most importantly that that information leads to informed decision-making that can save their lives? 🎀As her journey continues, we can only wish that she continues to receive the support she needs. As part of the Community Podium team committed to raise awareness on various socio-economic, and health issues, Tawanda Gombami and I were happy to learn that Jane's motivation to tell her story was so that community members get to learn and be inspired by it. Movember: Raising Awareness for Men’s Health this November Throughout November, Movember aims to increase awareness about men’s health, particularly prostate and testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention. The statistics speak for themselves: 🟣 Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men, with nearly 11 million men affected globally. 🟣 Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men, with over 800,000 men living with the disease worldwide. 🟣 Each day, more than 1,400 men die by suicide—equating to one man lost every minute. 🟣 Globally, men account for two out of every three suicides. This Movember, it is crucial to promote early detection, provide mental health support, and encourage conversations about men’s health. Together, we can make a difference. #Movember #MensHealth #ProstateCancer #TesticularCancer #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention #SQRH

Sharing with family about a cancer diagnosis can be an incredibly difficult and emotional experience. It often comes with a whirlwind of feelings—fear, sadness, and uncertainty about the future. Finding the right moment and a comfortable setting can help create a safe space for this important conversation. When sharing the news, it’s essential to be honest about your feelings whilst also considering your family’s emotional responses. Family members may react with shock or sorrow, and it’s important to give them time to process their feelings. By being open and honest, you can begin to nurture understanding and help create a strong support network, helping everyone to navigate this challenging journey together. Ste https://lnkd.in/g5BTjcjy

🌍 This November, we at Med-Clinical are proud to support Movember, a movement focused on crucial issues in men’s health, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. 👨🏽⚕️ At Med-Clinical we know that early detection and ongoing support can save lives. Men are often hesitant to address health concerns, which can lead to late diagnoses and untreated mental health challenges. Movember is our chance to change that by promoting open conversations, awareness, and funding for innovative research and programs. 💙 This month, we’re not only growing mustaches; we’re amplifying the message across our team and community. From hosting awareness events to encouraging regular health check-ups, we’re committed to making a difference. Let’s all join hands to help the men in our lives prioritize their health. Together, we can break the stigma and make a lasting impact. Every conversation, donation, or message shared contributes to a healthier, happier future. #Movember #MensHealth #MedClinicalCares #ProstateCancer #MentalHealthAwareness #EarlyDetection Mikaela Dimitriu #research #diagnostic

November is Men's Health Awareness Month, or as most of us know it Movember! Movember is about raising awareness for men's mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. These are often missed as there is the ridiculous stigma around men having to be "manly" and just "man up" if they're feeling low or unwell. Which leads to never catching cancer in time or getting the mental health they need before it's too late. This stigma needs to end, it will literally save lives. If you are struggling, there is a lot of help out there to get you through your day to day make help you realise things can get better. If you have any symptoms for prostate or testicular cancer, get them checked asap, the sooner you catch it the better. #Movember #MensHealthAwarenessMonth #MensMentalHealthAwareness #ProstateCancerAwareness #TesticularCancerAwareness ID: Seated Sewing graphic for Movember in the company colours.

What is Movember?! Movember began in 2003 in Australia when a group of friends decided to grow mustaches for a month to raise awareness for men’s health. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, encouraging men to take charge of their health, raise funds, and start conversations about important but often overlooked issues. Find out more here: https://us.movember.com/
🧔It's #Movember, a month when brave and selfless men around the world grow a mustache, and women step up to support them, all to raise awareness and funds for men's health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. Join us to spread awareness about the importance of men's mental health. 💙 #Movember2024 #MensHealth #WellBeing #DHLGlobalForwarding
