Flying cabs in the UAE by 2026 seem to be confirmed 🚖✈️. Archer Aviation Inc. has announced a multilateral cooperation agreement with key UAE stakeholders to launch eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) air taxi operations. The first commercial flight is set to take off in Q1 2026. Key expectations? → Travel times could drop from 60-90 minutes by car to just 10-30 minutes via air cabs. → Electric air cabs are designed to be quiet and environmentally friendly. I recently wrote a post about the level of digitization of Emirati government services and their high ranking globally. Flying cabs in 2026 are another example of how quickly the region is transforming and how innovation thrives here. As a reminder, I attach a photo of the UAE from 30 years ago. The fifth annual AIRTAXI World Congress (ATWC) will take place in Dubai, UAE, from October 7th to 10th, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai Conference & Exhibition Centre. This prestigious event will highlight the latest advancements in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry, featuring a special showcase of eVTOLs, eSTOLs, drones, and next-generation aircraft on October 10th at the Air Chateau Dubai Helipark, adjacent to Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport. Air Chateau, recently certified by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority to develop vertiports and heliports, is set to play a pivotal role in the event. The company has pledged to acquire 100 Midnight eVTOLs from Archer Aviation and 10 flying taxis from CRISALION Mobility. Mike Howarth, President of ATWC, anticipates welcoming up to 1,000 delegates from around the world. The event will bring together key players in the AAM sector, including the Federal Aviation Administration, Electra.aero, Volocopter, Lilium, Rolls-Royce, Bristow Group, Korea Airports Corporation (KAC, 한국공항공사), Honeywell, and United Airlines, to discuss the future of this rapidly growing industry. The four-day congress will include in-depth sessions on topics such as "Airports of Tomorrow," "Airlines and Operators — The New Reality," and "Heavy Cargo Drones and Delivery Services as a New Market." Attendees will also benefit from online scheduling to facilitate meetings between airlines, start-ups, OEMs, and investors. Archer has entered into a multi-party collaboration agreement with key UAE and Abu Dhabi entities to advance the establishment of electric air taxi operations in the country. The agreement aims to formalise the cooperation between UAE and Abu Dhabi stakeholders in preparation for the launch of the first commercial eVTOL aircraft flight. The agreement’s goal is for Archer Aviation to be the first manufacturer of eVTOL aircraft in the Middle East and North Africa (#MENA) region, as well as the first to launch commercial flying taxi operations in the Emirate.
