For the last few months, Temu has been recruiting US-based sellers to their platform to provide faster shipping and hedge their exposure to potential changes to import duties. However, for the Chinese retailer to truly scale in the US market, they will need to do more than sell knockoffs and cheap goods. This is why we’re seeing Temu begin to approach higher end brands to widen their appeal to shoppers (and pump up those average order values!) While Temu has a long way to go to establish itself as a mainstream commerce platform in the US, they are investing serious scratch behind merchant acquisition and it’s starting to pay off with 5 of the 25 biggest Amazon sellers, now selling on Temu.
