There is sooooo much work being done in the SMME sector but is it enough? Spent the last 2-days at the GEC+Africa thanks to Global Entrepreneurship Network Some key takeaways:*Wrong money, at the wrong time can kill your business *Philanthropy money should influence what public money does*Investors need to be honest with themselves and each other if the systems & tools being used really work would the investment gap really exist? *There is a need collaborate with the organizations in the middle doing work with the entrepreneurs, there is a wealth of untapped data there*There is a 3-course approach to capacity building 1. Starter - Focus on the jockey, build the man in the business 2. Main - Focus on horse, build the business and access to market 3. Access to funding/investment NB! Profit & high turnover are not the measure of success in entrepreneurship, these are the byproduct, the dipstick should be the solution to the problem you’re solving. Are you solving a global problem with your solution? Is the market you’re in ready for your level of scale? My question: How do we bring micro-businesses along on the ride?
