Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology introduce an expansion #Microscopy #ExM method utilizing post-expansion labeling and serial rounds of staining/imaging for highly multiplexed #SuperResolution imaging. They demonstrate their approach by mapping 23 different proteins in brain tissue from a mouse model of Alzheimer’s Disease with a registration error of less than 40 nm. An ~20X expansion factor is realized, providing ~20 nm lateral resolution in conjunction with a Nikon microscope equipped with a Yokogawa Life Science CSU-W1 #SpinningDisk #Confocal and 40X water immersion objective. To meet demand and improve on existing systems, we developed the first affordable photon counting detectors - leading the way to higher contrasts, and higher resolution CT imaging in routine medical diagnostics - without increasing the dose applied to patients. What's more, the images generated by our photon counting technology provide users with the ability to extract more information about the object being examined. 🔵 A Journey Through the Evolution of CT Scanners: In 1971, CT scanners made their groundbreaking debut under the leadership of Sir Godfrey Hounsfield, an electrical engineer at EMI. What started as a technology with a single detector for brain studies has now transformed into a sophisticated system used globally for medical imaging. Let's explore the advancements over the generations: 🧠 First Generation (1971) • Detectors: 1 • X-ray Beam: Pencil-like • Movements: Translate-Rotate • Scan Time: 25-30 mins 🔍 Second Generation • Detectors: Up to 30 • X-ray Beam: Fan-shaped • Movements: Translate-Rotate • Scan Time: <90 sec 🚀 Third Generation • Detectors: Initially 288, now 700+ arranged in an arc • X-ray Beam: Fan-shaped • Movements: Rotate-Rotate • Scan Time: ~5 sec 💡 Fourth Generation • Detectors: 2000+ in a fixed outer ring • X-ray Beam: Fan-shaped • Movements: Rotate-Fixed • Scan Time: A few seconds CT technology has made extraordinary strides, reducing scan times dramatically while improving diagnostic accuracy. The evolution of CT scanners continues to shape the future of medical imaging, and I’m excited to be part of this ever-growing field! #MedicalImaging #CTTechnology #HealthcareInnovation #Radiology #CTScan
