We’re thrilled to be working with Gorringe Patrick to bring cost-effective technologies to some of the world’s most remote surfing communities with our Surfer Scientists Project! 🏄♂️🏄🏽♀️🔬 Together, we’ll be mapping and monitoring coral reef surfing ecosystems, while collecting vital ocean data to share with international partners. 🪸🌊 Surfing communities inhabit some of the remotest and most marine biodiverse spots on the planet, like the locals from islands in North Eastern Indonesia in the Coral Triangle, where surfing has developed in relative isolation since World War Two. Surfing is huge. It presents a huge opportunity to assist local communities and provide vital information to better understand and protect our oceans. #ALiquidFuture #SurferScientists #OceanScience #Sustainability #UNDecadeOfOceanScience #CitizenScience #MarineConservation #SustainableSurfing #CoastalCommunities #OceanAdvocacy

As the #olympics get going in earnest this week, not everyone's attention is focused on Paris; surfing heads to French Polynesia. Why? Well apart from the French coast resembling a lake at this time of year, at the end of the road on Tahiti-Iti is a wave unlike any other; Teahupo'o – ‘a place of skulls'. This wave is unique; A trough way below sea level, a massively thick lip plunging forward, with no back to the wave. Why does it do this? It of course comes down to bathymetry. Using new seabed data from SHOM and the Celeris wave model we can look at how the offshore features shape the waves as they approach the break point. Discussed in this article in the conversation and shown in the video. https://lnkd.in/gUyPTHQt Enjoy. Incredible surfing on #ecoboards in Portugal along with insights into the more sustainable materials? Sign me (and you?) up! "I’m excited to announce the release of the newest episode of my Impact Series: Eco Foam! This 10-minute episode dives deep into my journey toward more sustainable surfing by adopting eco-friendly materials like the Polyola Blank, all while showcasing the stunning coastlines of Portugal. In partnership with the amazing NGO Sustainable Surf, Eco Foam highlights how surfers like me are working together to reduce the ecological footprint of our sport. From the innovation behind eco boards to how these boards help preserve the waves we ride, this episode is all about showing how the right choices in equipment can help protect the ocean we love. You'll see some epic surfing moments alongside a detailed look at the Polyola Blank, a surfboard core made from sustainable materials that cut down on carbon emissions without sacrificing performance. For me, using these boards isn’t just about riding waves—it's a step toward making surfing more environmentally responsible. I really wanted to showcase that sustainable surfing is here and now. Working with Sustainable Surf and riding the Polyola Blank has opened my eyes to how accessible eco-friendly choices can be. My hope is that this episode will inspire others to think about the impact their equipment has on the environment. The Impact Series is a personal project that brings together my passions for surfing and environmentalism. Through each episode, I explore the challenges our planet faces and the solutions that can make a difference. Every story is a reminder of how connected we are to nature and what we can do to protect it. Thanks for watching and joining me on this journey!"

Laird Hamilton is a renowned big wave surfer, famous for conquering some of the most challenging and dangerous waves in the world. One of his most notable achievements was his pioneering ride at Teahupo'o, a surf break in Tahiti known for its incredibly powerful and hollow waves, often described as the "heaviest" wave in the world. In 2000, Laird Hamilton made surfing history at Teahupo'o when he rode a massive wave, often referred to as the "Millennium Wave." The footage of Laird Hamilton's ride at Teahupo'o gained widespread attention and cemented his status as one of the greatest big wave surfers of all time. His feat at Teahupo'o is still regarded as one of the most iconic moments in the history of surfing. The way we speak to ourselves influences our confidence, motivation, and resilience. If our inner voice is overly critical or self-defeating, it can sabotage our performance. Optimal performance is not just about physical or cognitive skills, it is also about managing inner doubt and fear. By controlling the voice in our head, we can maintain focus, manage nervousness, and perform at our best. A strong mental approach involves recognizing unhelpful patterns of thinking and actively replacing them with empowering, solution-focused thoughts. #mentalperformance #resistancetodisruption #mindsetmatters #performanceoptimization #mentaltoughness

Why do dolphins surf waves? They don’t need surfboards or any watercraft, and they’re as good as any human surfer. It’s fair to say that humans are not the only living being who appreciate surfing waves - dolphins do love surfing the world’s finest breaks. They use their smooth bodies to navigate across the unbroken parts of the waves, trimming the surf line as surfers do. When the waves are about to break and explode, dolphins turn around and get back to the lineup for another ride. Occasionally, they even jump out of the water. And when the surf is above average, they even drop in on their fellow human wave riders. 🌎 Let’s Make Our World A Greener Place.. The other living beings are not to blame 🚩Using Water Efficiently 👉🏾 : Ideas for Industry and go to The Energy Transition Fund aims to encourage and support research, development and innovation in the field of energy. 📌 Feel free to connect and joint us

Its Friday! Catch a Different Kind of Wave in Switzerland Living and working in Switzerland doesn't mean giving up on catching some waves! Switzerland may be landlocked, but it offers a unique and thrilling alternative: river surfing. For international professionals seeking an adrenaline rush, here are some spots to check out: 🌊Eisbach Wave, Zurich: This iconic wave in the heart of the city is a must-visit for experienced surfers. Created by a submerged concrete slab, it's challenging and not for beginners. ⚠️ 🌊City Wave, Thun: A man-made wave on the Aare River, Thun offers a more beginner-friendly experience. Adjustable difficulty makes it perfect for surfers of all skill levels. 🌊River Reuss, Lucerne: Catch some waves near the Spreuer Bridge. While not as famous as the Eisbach, it provides a thrilling ride for river surfing enthusiasts. 🌊River Inn, Sur En: This small village in Lower Engadine boasts challenging waves on the River Inn during high water periods. Experienced surfers only! ⚠️ Remember, safety first! ⛑️ River surfing can be dangerous. Always check local regulations, water levels, and safety guidelines before hitting the water.
