One thing proven to fire up our motivation levels at work (and consequently help us enjoy our jobs more) is the mastery of a particular skill. Luckily, in the world of HR, there is a huge array of skills you can choose to learn more about or specialise in. (I think it's one of the best things about working in HR). One of the activities in 📝 The Essential HR Planner includes a list of HR-specific skills to help you choose one to focus on for the year ahead. It's designed to inspire you to try something new and prove the value of HR to your workplace. One of the skills on that list is Strategic Workforce Planning (often shortened to 'SWP'). If you're thinking (like I used to), "Well, that sounds kind of interesting, but I'm not really sure what it is, what it involves, or how to do it," then I have something to help... Jen Allen Jardine (Chartered FCIPD), a self-confessed 'Strategic Workforce Planning Geek,' joined me for episode 132 of 🎙HR Coffee Time: 'Strategic Workforce Planning—Why It's Important and How to Improve Your Skills'. I've known Jen for a while now and have always loved chatting with her. She has an infectious passion for her work, a great sense of fun, and is a walking encyclopedia of SWP. Her insights are invaluable for anyone looking to enhance their strategic thinking, whether in workforce planning or other areas of HR. Here's a little video snippet of Jen in action from our interview. 🎧 Want to hear the whole thing? Just search for 'HR Coffee Time' in your favourite podcast app and scroll to episode 132. Oh, and I've been busy working on the 2025 edition of The Essential HR Planner (formerly called 'The HR Planner') for you. If you'd like to be one of the first to know when it's ready, pop your name on the waiting list here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/edHYn5sn P.S. Jen mentions 'The 5 Whys' in the clip. Have you tried this technique? Or are you inspired to try it out now that you've heard her mention it? I'd love to know! #HRSkills #StrategicWorkforcePlanning #ProfessionalDevelopment #HRPodcast
