We’ve developed this awesome web app aimed at improving efficiency in metal fabrication shops, and things are starting to take off with some paid users. Now, here's the twist—we've caught the attention of a VC firm interested in our product. While we're not on the hunt for capital at the moment, I believe in laying the groundwork for potential relationships down the line. They’ve asked for a product demo, and I have a few thoughts buzzing around in my head. 🤔 So, how should I tweak my normal customer demo for these investors? Here are some questions I’ve been mulling over: Timing: How long should this demo really be? Usually, our customer demos last about 1.5 hours, but that feels like a lifetime for an investor. Let me be honest with you , the past few weeks have been a test of resilience for my startup team 😫 We recently launched the beta version of our new app Pikelo 🚀 and let's just say, the bug reports came in like a flood! Shoutout to my amazing teammate, Ben Mukanirwa, for the heroic debugging efforts! But amidst the late nights and troubleshooting sessions, here's what kept us going: Adaptability: We pivoted our approach based on user feedback, constantly iterating and improving the user experience. Collaboration: We leaned on each other's strengths, with Steven De Koffi and I strategizing new solutions and Mahamadou Kaba fine-tuning our AI features. Positive Mindset: We focused on the learnings, celebrating each bug fix and improvement as a step towards a better product. The road to success is rarely smooth, but it's the challenges that truly test our mettle. It’s not every day you hit a home run at work, but this past Friday at Flowcode, I watched Nina Berezin do just that … Here’s how with: 💗 Cultural Momentum 🛠 Product Positioning 🛩 Fast Execution 💗 Cultural Momentum: On our marketing team we talk a lot about how to tap into and lead culture (s/o Dr. Marcus Collins!), some moments are captured… the best moments are made. When Nina saw Katy Perry pull up to the VMA’s with a QR tramp stamp that didn't even scan, she knew it was time to attack. 🛠 Product Positioning: Katy’s QR code was boring and didn’t scan - our entry into the conversation. Nina immediately inserted Flowcode into the conversation with our product positioning on social the next morning… “Great idea Katy, but could’ve done it better with Flowcode.” 🛩 Fast Execution: “Actually, let's do it better.” -Nina to me, early Friday morning. 5 minutes later, she is getting Tim Armstrong and legal approval to make moves fast! 15 more minutes go by and she is filming Tim announce that we will pay someone $5K to get a #FlowcodeTattoo ($12.5K for twins + $20K for married couple)… and then like wild-fire the algorithms began to take over. By Monday morning, we had over 15 million views and still climbing. It may take days to sift through the responses.
