My Hair. My Crown. My Professional Right. Our hair texture and styles are a part of our identity & story, not a measure of our potential. Yet, shockingly, discrimination based on hair remains a real issue in the workplace. In 2019, California became the first state to enact #TheCROWNAct, protecting individuals from hair discrimination. But as of 2024, only 25 states have followed suit. This legislation is long overdue nationwide. The CROWN Act ensures that no one faces bias because of their natural hair texture, protective styles like braids and locs, or hair that reflects their racial or ethnic identity. Join Dove and The CROWN Act in demanding change by signing the petition now at Dove.com/CROWN and let's make all schools and workplaces more inclusive! #PassTheCROWN #CROWNCoalition #Dove #ProfessionalEquality

Thank you, Matel and Barbie!!! I want to introduce the concept of 'windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors.' This educational theory, often used for children's literature, can apply to adults in a workplace. Everyone needs a mirror to see themselves reflected in the world around them. They also need windows for a glimpse of different perspectives and sliding glass doors to step into those worlds and explore. Corporate DEI initiatives can provide these essential elements. For example, they can offer diverse representation in leadership, which acts as a mirror for many employees. They can also foster inclusive work environments that serve as windows into different cultures and experiences. And by supporting employee development and growth, they can provide sliding glass doors that open up new opportunities. To dismiss the value of these experiences is to overlook the profound impact they can have on individuals and organizations. More importantly an experience like this young girl's.

Watching this little girl open this box really made my heart smile. It reminded me that companies can and do make products that change lives. Everyone deserves to be seen. I’m not as acquainted as I could be about resources for children who are blind, but this post reminded me that we cannot continue perpetuating a culture that normalizes some abilities. Also this organizational psychologist has some great content. Psychologists At Work - With Colleen MSC Everyone deserves to be seen and heard. #equityandinclusion #weseeyou #careercoach

Age-positive or patronising? Whilst we welcome the Laura Geller Makeup ad's aim to encourage women aged 50+ to embrace their age, this ad risks infantilising the women who are portrayed as rather silly airheads desperately trying to cling to youth. Do you find this marketing message age-positive or does it reinforce stereotypes? #agepositive #advertising #marketing #50plus
Laura Geller Makeup has entered the anti-ageism conversation with guns blazing, but is this ad actually age-positive? While the spot, which ends with the line "Laura Geller can't help you act your age, but it can help you own your age," encourages women 50+ to embrace their age, it also represents older women as caricatures who continue to seek the validation of youth culture. On the other hand, could it be interpreted as a critique of the pressure that social media places on older women to not look or act their age at any cost? What do you think? Is this an example of reclaiming age with a wink, or a further condescension towards older women and their spending motivations?

So many disabled people are told the ways that their bodies and/or minds show up in spaces isn't ok. Gentle reminder today that no matter how your disability presents, and no matter what society says, how you are as a disabled person is acceptable. #DanceForAllAbilities #RepresentationMatters #DisabilityJustice #BlackDisability #DisabilityCommunity #DisabilityInclusion #BlackAndDisabled #DisabilityPride #Ableism . . . [Image Description: White Embraced Body circular logo. Below text reads “India Harville” and an image of India Harville, Black woman with long curly locs smiling while standing in her black Zeen mobility device. She’s wearing an orange top and blue jeans against a purple background.] Transcript: One thing that’s really important for me in my work, whether that’s making art or doing social justice or, dance, is helping people understand that everything their body does is okay, and every way they show up enriches the space and is acceptable.
