From Ideas to Action: A New Chapter with Dassault Systèmes When I first explored how technology can simplify complex problems, I never imagined it would lead me here—to the SOLIDWORKS Product Team at Dassault Systèmes. This isn’t just about joining a company or starting a role. It’s about the intersection of creativity and strategy, where products shape industries and ideas turn into innovation. My time at Babson College taught me to approach challenges with curiosity and collaboration, and my internship with Dassault showed me what it takes to bring impactful products to life. Those lessons stick with me as I dive into this new chapter. What’s next? Continuing to explore how we can simplify complexity, foster innovation, and create meaningful solutions. Here’s to a journey where the learning never stops.

The past 8 months of my internship at Aerospike have been illuminating in terms of (1) everything I learned about software engineering and (2) developing my career vision. Getting a taste of SWE was certainly something I needed, and my mentors offered me the liberty to explore adjacent spheres such as security and distributed systems. I enjoy learning about everything within my reach, and this additional exploration helped me better understand my passions and hone my skillset. I got a feel for the startup experience; the fast-paced, supportive culture, and my first-hand experience of the company’s evolution were fascinating. I’m particularly fortunate to have witnessed a massive investment round, a company rebranding, and product releases. Most importantly, I spoke with almost every employee from every team in the Mountain View office, and I’m grateful for the camaraderie and wonderful office culture. As of now, I will continue this internship in a part-time, R&D capacity, learning about database architecture and design from my mentor, Grant Haywood. I'd like to also thank B. Narendran for supporting my endless curiosity. I'm excited to approach the product(s) from theoretical and design angles that will supplement my mathematics interests. Finally, I’m thrilled to start working as a research assistant at the Columbia University Department of Computer Science with Professor Christos Papadimitriou. I'll be working on projects that beautifully utilize computer science and mathematics to develop models of the brain and its functions. #aerospike #resarch #mathematics #cs #databases

Yesterday marked the end of my summer internship at Autodesk in San Francisco, and what a tremendous journey it has been! I have a pocket full of stories to talk about. Here are the most important soft skills I’ve developed: 1. Embrace Change: Relocating from the East Coast to the West Coast for three months was a daunting task filled with doubts. But I leaped and Man was it worth it! New people, places, and experiences have the power to shape your life in unexpected ways, so whenever you get the chance, embrace the opportunity to see things from a new perspective. 2. Take pleasure in walking into a room full of strangers: I used to feel uncomfortable in crowds, but now I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and learning about their lives, journeys, and experiences. How did I overcome this? I made it a goal to connect with 4 new people each week, scheduled calls with colleagues from across the globe at Autodesk and made sure to attend events around San Francisco at least 3 times a week. The insights I gained were invaluable. 3. Showcase your worth and Brand yourself: It’s important to let others see what you’re capable of. Don’t hesitate to take the lead and show your skills. Talk about what excites you, your personal values, and how they define who you are. Owning your narrative is key to making a lasting impression. 4. Dive into the unknown: You don’t need to be a master of everything right away. While your expertise gives you confidence, the excitement of learning something new is equally important. Embrace the learning curve, give yourself time, and don’t give up—this is how growth happens. 5. Ask for help: Never underestimate the power of seeking help. You’d be surprised how willing people are to lend a hand when you ask. Don’t be afraid to reach out—it can make all the difference. Thank you, Autodesk for the opportunity.

The sun has set on summer, so let's end the season celebrating our summer interns! This year three summer interns joined us at AAG! Here's a little bit about them and their internship experiences. Our third, and final, intern introduction is Kyler Brazukas. Kyler is pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at California Polytechnic State University. Kyler worked on two main projects for the traffic pattern integration activity under NASA’s Pathfinding for Aerospace with Autonomous Vehicles sub-project. His first project was to develop a graphical user interface that could be used to quickly perform tests on an uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) route determination program developed by AAG. He designed this using MATLAB’s App Designer tool and interfaced with the route program written in C++. The second project was to gather flight track data to characterize the traffic pattern at non-towered airports to advance the integration of UAS into the airport traffic pattern. Using a Raspberry Pi and open-source software, Kyler built an ADS-B flight data receiver to deploy at a local airport to collect data, which he then parsed and analyzed. What did you enjoy during your internship with AAG? "Having completed my second summer with AAG, I have appreciated the positive workplace environment and the hands-on experience with real projects. I've enjoyed a high level of autonomy and control over my work, while also having access to an incredibly knowledgeable team of engineers who provide valuable advice and technical support." What was something you learned during your internship? "During my first summer with AAG, I learned how to use MATLAB from the ground up, and since then, I have significantly improved my skills. This summer, I learned how to design a graphical user interface using the App Designer tool and perform data intensive vector calculations. Additionally, working on the ADS-B receiver project provided me with a lot of Linux-based coding experience on the Raspberry Pi platform. I also learned how to code in C++ using Visual Studio and developed my abilities in performing data collection and analysis." What do you plan to pursue after completing your internship? "I plan on finishing my bachelor’s in aerospace at Cal Poly before moving on to work in the sustainable aviation sector. I hope to work with electric aircraft such as eVTOL’s and cutting-edge UAS platforms." Keep up the great work Kyler! We can’t wait to see what your future holds!

🚀 2024 Last Two Months Recap: ❌ I got rejected by Bosch 4 times. ❌I wasn’t accepted into the VakıfBank Hackathon. ❌I wasn’t selected for Renault Group’s Data Program. ❌I came second in Renault Group's Ideathon, but for me, anything other than first place is a loss. ❌I sent over 100 messages to connect, seek advice, and network, yet received no replies. ❌I had to step away from my internship. ❌I got rejected by numerous bootcamps, and hackathons. ❌I even got rejected by Hugging Face (in fact, they didn't even respond). As Muhammed Ali said to George Foreman: "Is that all you got, George?" But you know what? I’m ready for more rejections, more challenges, and more opportunities to grow. 💪 Despite all the setbacks, I’m proud of what I’ve done. I’ve taken risks, put myself out there, and stayed persistent. Life isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about embracing it, learning, and stepping forward with resilience. 💪 Step by step, I’ll achieve things that I can’t even dream of right now. These moments, no matter how tough, are simply chapters in a bigger story—a story where I emerge stronger, smarter, and unstoppable. I’m not afraid to fail. So bring on whatever comes next. I’m ready. 😎
