An important nudge to continue reflecting on how we define curriculum, and why it's critical to keep learning contextual to the richness of the children's experiences that they bring into the classroom. We are long past the analogy of children as little sponges. I love the idea of 'negotiating curriculum'; it is indeed a negotiation amongst all members of the school community. It is challenging, but the process of debating and re-prioritizing is urgent and agency-driven. Often within a Unit of Inquiry, a teacher will come to me and say "this is a bit of a tangent from the unit, but my children are really into ____, can I go in that direction?" The answer will always be yes. The beauty of early years education is that you don't need to dig too deep to find connections between children's interests and its alignment with outcomes/skills/understandings in the curriculum. The routes on the map are never linear, and when we actively listen to children, we surface the many ways we can get to the same place. The challenge to educators is, will you take that leap and follow that tangent? To what extent do you trust that learning will emerge on the other side? 🤔

Our voices have the POWER 🦸🏻♀️🦸🏽 In times of crisis and war, as well as in our everyday lives, it is crucial to make our voices and values heard. By speaking up, we not only advocate for justice but also contribute to creating a community where everyone feels valued and respected. Silence can often be interpreted as acceptance, so it's important to choose our words wisely and use them to promote understanding and positive change. Whether it's through small daily interactions or larger societal movements- **our voices have the power to shape a better world** So when the moment comes to choose > speak up (!) and make a difference.
