State agencies and private companies have joined forces with BrightKey to combat the growing threat of fentanyl in correctional facilities. This collaboration aims to create a safer environment by intercepting fentanyl and other illicit substances before they enter prisons, mitigating the risks associated with dangerous drug exposure. BrightKey's advanced mail screening program utilizes cutting-edge detection techniques to identify trace amounts of fentanyl. This initiative aligns with recent legislative efforts, such as the Interdiction of Fentanyl at Federal Prisons Act, reflecting a broader political commitment to addressing the fentanyl crisis. 'By introducing effective screening measures, BrightKey and its partners set a new standard for safety and accountability within the justice system,' said a spokesperson. Over ten Correctional Officers in the New York Prison System beat 43 year old Robert Brooks to death. Totally unacceptable. Once again, if you have a person in handcuffs. There is no need for excessive force. Step back and allow the handcuffed person to self destruct or become tired of resisting. I have trained police staff nationwide in the area of De-escalation and Conflict Mediation Services. The pack mentality kicked in with the Correctional Officers. Now the pack will lose their jobs and career. Solution: 1. Stop looking at African American People like we are not human beings. 2. Other Correctional Officers should have intervened. 3. More hands on trainings needed. 4. Think before you act. Remember, Tyree Nichols. 5. Leave your job if you cannot deal with the stress. 6. Treat all human beings the way you want to be treated. 7. Call Violence Interrupters to help deal with these types of situations.

So prison staffing is a problem in Norway even at a ratio of 0.8 inmates/staff according to https://lnkd.in/e9srcBHf Prisoners-in-Europe-2022.pdf. What about my country with a ratio more than double lower (1.8)? Not to talk about the medical staff in penitentiaries, in the context of general heath care staff crisis! #prisonstaff #prisonstaffing #prisonhumanresources

Reentry simulations are really crucial for criminal justice practitioners. They help highlight the barriers that individuals impacted by the justice system face when reentering society. It’s important for us to understand these challenges. #Reentry
Upon release from incarceration, offenders often must overcome challenges to successfully reenter society. Understanding those challenges was the focus of TDOC’s re-entry simulation presented to correctional professionals from across the country during the American Correctional Association conference in Nashville. The reentry simulation allows correctional professionals to experience the difficult and often frustrating hurdles of reentry.
