Developers can be extra discerning about "marketecture" and have a higher "BS filter". So if your customers are developers, it's extremely important to be disciplined around creating a reliable, intuitive developer experience.
Building a delightful developer experience is even more challenging when your customers (Developers) are highly discerning about whether you're saving them time, money, and complexity. Kenneth Auchenberg 🛠 talks about approaches he learned during his experiences building surprisingly great developer experiences at companies like Stripe and Microsoft. This genius tip here from James Cridland is a bigger deal than most will realise. Here's why: 1. Android is still the dominant OS in mobile. Particularly in the UK - where it has 54% at last count. That's a half of the country worth of potential new listeners now able to listen to your podcast in Apple Podcasts (which still holds most of the listener currency regardless of what Spotify would like you to believe!) 2. If people are now able to 'install' Apple Podcasts on their Android device, they'll have access to the things everyone is talking about, including reviews (not the comments that Spotify offers) and the awful but still compelling 'charts'. 3. As much as Spotify works for younger audiences, the UX is dreadful for anyone over the age of 40, and your mum just might listen to your podcast (and others) if you can install Apple Podcasts on her Android phone for her. This kind of insight is why Podnews and Podnews Weekly Review are 'musts' in my diet of podcast education. And they need to be in yours too. Go subscribe at podnews dot net. And follow Podnews Weekly Review (perhaps in Apple Podcasts) at weekly dot podnews dot net.
Passionate about audio - editor of Podnews and radio futurologist. PLEASE DON’T USE LINKEDIN MAIL. editor@podnews.net will find me. Thank you.
Podnews today covers how to install Apple Podcasts on your Android phone. (Yes, that's right). I can't link to it here, so instead, here's the instructions in a graphic. And I trust/hope you'll reward Podnews with a subscribe if you think it's decent.
