Processing vocals with EQ
- [Instructor] No matter what you capture from your microphone, most vocals require a certain amount of equalization to fit the sound of the voice musically into the mix of instruments in your song. Here I'll give you some pointers on what frequency areas of the vocal will respond to specific eq settings, and how to apply them in logic pro to make your vocal really shine in a mix. First I wanna go over the different ranges of the human voice in the audio frequency spectrum. So here I've got some channel eq's set up to focus on specific areas of the frequency range. We'll start with the low end. The lowest frequencies. This is everything from 20 hertz, the lowest our ears can potentially hear, all the way up to about 80 hertz. Now for a female vocalist, you can pretty much carve out everything below 80 hertz. I would move that down to 60 for male vocals. This is where you're gonna find any unusable rumble that got into the microphone maybe from air conditioning or passing cars outside…
