- [Rick] In this video, we'll learn about the different NIC teaming methods that are available for vSphere Standard Switches. Later on, we'll learn about distributed switches, but right now, our focus is on the features of the vSphere Standard Switch. And so the first method we're going to talk about is NIC teaming by originating port ID. And essentially, what we're trying to accomplish here is we have multiple physical adapters, multiple VM NICs that have been associated with our virtual switch. And we want to ensure that the traffic of all of these virtual machines is being spread out across all of these physical VM NICs. So in order to do that, we're going to have to configure NIC teaming to allow the virtual switch to load balance the traffic across the available VM NICs. And the first NIC teaming method that we're going to talk about is originating port ID.
