- [Instructor] In this video, we'll learn about the different NIC teaming methods that are available with the vSphere distributed switch. And we already learned about NIC teaming methods available with the vSphere standard switch. We learned about originating virtual port ID, we learned about source MAC hash, and we learned about IP hash. And all of those techniques are available here in the vSphere distributed switch as well. But all of those methods have something in common. They're not very intelligent. So for example, let's assume that a physical VM NIC is being overwhelmed with traffic. Well, none of those methods that we've learned about can detect that condition and adjust accordingly. But with a distributed switch, we can do that. So let's take a look at our diagram. Here we see three virtual machines, and each of these VMs is bound to a specific physical VM NIC. So VM1 is using VM NIC 1, VM2 and three are both using VM NIC 2.
