DRS and automation levels

DRS and automation levels

- [Instructor] In this video, we'll learn about the different automation levels that are supported with distributed Resource Scheduler or DRS. And the first automation level that we're going to look at is manual mode. This is a good way to get started with DRS. This is often the first step taken when creating a DRS cluster. And the reason that it's such a useful way to start things with DRS, is because DRS will simply provide recommendations in manual mode, but it'll never automatically migrate virtual machines without manual intervention. So if I create a DRS cluster and I choose the manual automation level, what vCenter is going to do is it's going to analyze the performance of that cluster. And based on what it observes, it'll provide us with a list of recommendations, DRS recommendations, that we can view, and then we can choose to manually carry those recommendations out. It will never automatically migrate virtual machines for us. It'll also give us initial placement…
