Demo: Performing a vMotion migration in vSphere
- [Rick] In this video, I'll demonstrate how to use vMotion to migrate a virtual machine from one ESXI host to another. And so in this demo I'm going to be using this virtual machine that I created in my last demo, called vMotion Demo. And we can tell by the little green arrow here and by the console preview that, yeah, this virtual machine is currently powered on. And the virtual machine is currently running on this ESXI host 192.168.199.14. And one more thing that I'd like to check out here. What network is this virtual machine connected to? And we can see that it's connected to VM Network. And that its data store that its virtual disk is on is the Large-Shared data store. So, good, it looks like everything on this VM is ready to go and should be vMotion compatible. So, I'm going to right click on the virtual machine and I'll go to Migrate and I'll click Migrate. And I'm just going to choose the first option, which is just a regular old vMotion. We are changing the compute resource.…
