- [Rick] In this video, I'll complete the necessary configuration to allow me to perform vMotion between two ESXi hosts. And so here you can see I'm in my vSphere client, and I'm going to click on Hosts and Clusters. And you can see here I have two ESXi hosts that I have currently added to my inventory here. So the first thing I want to look at is storage. Let's take a look at this first ESXi host, and let's click on Datastores. And you can see there are three datastores available on this particular host. The first datastore is a local datastore. It is available only to this host, and that's not really going to help me with vMotion at all. But you can see there are also two other datastores that are shared. These are datastores that are going to be available to multiple ESXi hosts, they're not local datastores. And so with vMotion, I need shared datastores.
