- [Narrator] In this movie, we're going to look at typesetting a book cover. One approach to book cover design is the big book look, used for both fiction and non-fiction titles. This involves the prominent use of type and generous white space to achieve a clean and uncluttered design. The type takes on a new identity when used in very large sizes. It creates a sense of importance, suggesting that the book is a major work. The cover design may also include other elements, like the author's name and an image that reflects the content of the book, but it is the title that is the most significant design element. And while we're thinking about the macro, we should also be thinking about the micro. Those small details that, if not taken care of, can scupper what would otherwise be a good design.
