- Your emotions show up and are stored in your body, and having stress in your body can make it difficult to feel calm in an overwhelming situation. This body scan meditation will help you to notice and release stress in your body so that you can bring yourself back to the here and now. Let's complete this exercise together so that you can learn it and practice it. You can re-watch this video anytime you feel stressed, and use this as a way to reduce overwhelm. To do this exercise, sit down and get yourself comfortable. If you feel okay doing so, close your eyes and rest your hands gently on your thighs. Place your feet on the floor beneath you and just notice your feet rooted in the earth. Notice the top of your head and your scalp. Observe any sensations and tension that you feel and take a 4, 7, 8 breath to release it. Next, notice your jaw and cheeks. Observe any sensations or tension that you feel. scrunch your face.
