How to optimize images
- As the web becomes more and more visual, image search is becoming an important part of SEO. Unfortunately, optimizing images for SEO can often be an afterthought. It isn't necessarily something that's highlighted in a crawl, and it can get lost amongst all the other technical SEO fires you actually need to put out. You may already know the basics of optimizing your images for SEO. Make sure the file name actually says what's in the image, and make sure to use alt text to describe the contents of the image. Now, I find that a lot of people turn to alt text first when they're working on SEO improvements. This might not be the most urgent thing on your list, but it is usually fairly easy to implement. And in addition to the SEO benefits, alt text helps subscribe images to visitors who may be using screen readers. Alt text looks like this, just describing the contents of the image.
