Why aggregate?
In the previous chapter, we only looked at calculations at row level. Row-level calculations are helpful for breaking our analysis down to a specific level of detail, especially with dates and strings, which we typically use as dimensions. But our analyses always use measures as well. In previous exercises, for example, we looked at the sum of total price by customer ID or the average processing time in days by ship mode, or we even looked at the sum of quantity per week. Similarly, we may be interested in the median discount or the distinct count of order ID per category, for example. But to do this, we have to aggregate our measures. So let's use this chapter to talk about aggregations.
