Let's start with row level calculations, also known as calculations at data source level. The reason for that name is that the result is calculated at the same level as the data source content used as the basis for the calculation. We will mainly be looking at strings and dates for this. We will focus on calculations with numbers in more detail in Chapter 4 when we talk about numerical calculations.
