- If you're planning a career pivot, you'll definitely want to update your resume before you start applying for jobs in an entirely different field. And yes, it's likely going to require a bit of strategy and creativity, but it's not impossible, and it'll certainly be worth your effort. I mean, if you're an engineer, and trying to break into accounting, you're going to look a little silly if you're using a resume that's all about your AutoCAD skills, and your ability to analyze mechanical systems.
