- The other day I was interviewing for my next book. And I had a senior leader share with me that they used to loathe when the whole office would have to meet in the lunchroom to celebrate all the birthdays that month. He was embarrassed to admit he was kind of missing them. He made sure that I understood he wasn't missing force fund. No one wants that back. He was just missing the opportunity to gather, to joke, to talk about the kids and last night's game. I think this speaks to so many of us these days. Despite flexibility being a positive outcome from the pandemic, relationships just aren't the same, which is where a lot of fun at work sparks. Plus, when we're overworking and feeling exhausted, it's hard to prioritize fun. You just want to be able to finish your work and then get back to your life.
