- Sometimes in our network, there's just not enough bandwidth to go around, in times like those when we have congestion a network service called Quality of Service or QoS can help us out. Let's take a look at a couple of times we might have network congestion. Let's say that we have a router that gets us out to the internet, and we're connecting into that router at a speed of one gigabit per second. However, that router's connection going out to the internet it's only running at 100 megabits per second. That's a 10 to one speed mismatch, that could cause traffic to be congested as it's trying to leave that router going out to the internet. Another instance that could cause congestion is having an aggregation point.
