Benefits of a network
- We know the network is an interconnection of devices but what benefit does that give us? Let's take a look at a few. First, a network gives us the ability to share resources. For example, we might have multiple users within an office that need to share files or printers. Another benefit of networking is communications. Examples of communications include not just email but voice calls, using a technology called a VoIP or voice over IP. We can even send video and instant messages over a network. Next up is redundancy. We might have critical data that soared on a computer that's acting as a file server. What happens if that computer breaks or if it's destroyed by a flood or a fire, do we lose all that data? We certainly don't want that. So what we can do is send a copy of that data over the network connection to a backup in another location. And one of the biggest benefits of a network is internet access. Think about how…
