Write it to remember it
- If you're trying to remember something, is it better to type it or write it by hand? A 2021 study revealed that participants who used a paper notebook outperformed those who typed on tablets or smartphones in a memory test. The secret, researchers attributed this to the complex spatial and tactile aspects of handwriting on paper, which engages motor circuits and deeply embeds information and memory. You can enhance memory even further by personalizing your documents. Highlighting, underlining, circling, drawing arrows, and putting notes in the margins. It's been my preferred method for years, both professionally and now while completing a very demanding PhD. So remember, write it to remember it.
