- [Instructor] The cost resource type is perfect for costs that aren't based on time or quantity like airfare or a construction permit. Because you specify values when you assign cost resources to tasks, the cost for each assignment can differ and you can track the total cost for each cost resource separately. They're also the easiest type of resource to create. So let's go to the first blank resource name cell, select that and type in the name of a cost resource like airfare. Then I'm going to press tab to go to the type cell. You can either click the down arrow and choose cost or just type the letter C and Project will fill in cost for you. The only other fields are initials and accrue at. So let's go to initials and I'm going to change that to AF for airfare. And then in the accrue at field, I'm going to click the down arrow and choose start because you usually pay for your airfare before you fly. That's all you have to do to create a cost resource.
