- [Instructor] Power Apps is part of a larger platform called the Microsoft Power Platform. The Microsoft Power Platform contains four large tools and then some tools that underlie them all. Power BI is used for creating business analytics and visualizations, Power Apps is used to create applications, Power Automate is used to build workflows that are used for process automation, and you can create chat bots with Power Virtual Agents. From Power BI to Power Virtual Agents, all of these tools connect to hundreds of data connectors. So if you have a data connection that you use with Power BI, you can also use that with Power Apps, Power Automate, or Power Virtual Agents. The AI Builder that is included as part of Power Apps is also used with Power Automate and with Power Virtual Agents. The Dataverse is a customizable database that you can use to underpin all of these applications in your environment. In this course, we're going to focus, of course, on Power Apps. Microsoft Power Apps as cloud-based software. We use Power Apps to build mobile-first apps, apps that are designed primarily to be run on mobile devices, but can also be run in a browser on the web. Power apps allows us to create, build, publish, and share these applications with other people in our organization. The apps we create can connect to hundreds of data sources, including SharePoint, SQL, Dynamics, Salesforce, Facebook, lots and lots of different data sources. As a low code, no code platform, Power Apps was designed for citizen developers, but IT professionals also use Power Apps, they use Power Apps to create prototypes as part of a larger project or to create apps quickly for business users, and increasingly, developers are using Power Apps, so that they can create applications collaboratively with users and citizen developers. The Power Apps components include make.powerapps.com, our online design environment. This is also the place where we will manage our applications and where we share the apps that we create. Power Apps mobile applications can be downloaded wherever you or your users currently download apps for iOS and Android devices. Power Apps mobile allows you and your team to take apps on the road and use custom apps in the field. We will spend most of our time in this course in the Power Apps design environment at make.powerapps.com.
