- There seems to be a negative connotation to the word accountability. Why is that? Like most things, there are pros and cons associated with the word. Teams that have strong accountability are steady, stable, and much more productive than teams that lack accountability. The harsh reality is that teams without accountability can fall into some pretty problematic patterns. You're more likely to see poor performance, low morale, a lack of trust, uncoordinated efforts, and even unsafe working conditions. I want to highlight that accountability shouldn't be just to you. When creating a culture of accountability, you want your team to be accountable to each other and to the broader organization too.
