- macOS is the operating system for Macintosh computers. It's the core software on your computer, the foundation that supports the interface and file storage and the platform for launching and using applications. In a way you can think of it as the personality of your computer or the language that you use to interact with it. macOS Monterey is the version of macOS that was released in the Fall of 2021 and is available as a free upgrade to current Mac users. My essential training course on macOS Monterey addresses the question, how do I use a Mac? While the answer to this question takes us into lots of smaller topics, I'll do my best to make it all clear and easy to digest. We will start with how to get a new Mac computer set up and configured, then we'll check out everything you need to store and organize files and work with applications on a Mac. If you are a novice computer user, this course can get you running with the Mac system. And if you are a windows user contemplating the switch to Macintosh, this course will help you understand the core similarities and differences.
