Define machine parameters - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: Learning SOLIDWORKS CAM
Define machine parameters
- [Instructor] The first step for working with SOLIDWORKS CAM is to tell SOLIDWORKS what kind of machine you're using so it can generate the proper machining strategies. This is done by clicking on the Define Machine icon in the toolbar to bring up the machine dialog box. This dialog box can also be accessed by right clicking the machine in the feature tree and selecting Edit Definition, or it can be accessed by double-clicking machine and popping up the same dialogue box. Within this dialog box, you'll notice several machine options. In SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard, lathe turning, four axis and five axis milling are grayed out and unavailable to the user. We've selected the mill metric option in SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard. We can choose the duty cycle of the machine we're using from light duty, medium duty, medium heavy duty, or heavy duty machining operations. Let's go ahead and select light duty and we'll click Okay.
