Master use and sync licensing agreements
- [Instructor] Hey, congratulations if you're receiving a license, because it means someone loves your song enough that they want to use it in a TV show, film, ad, trailer, or video game. In a perfect world, you would receive verbal or written confirmation that your song has been selected for the spot, however, some quote requests, once signed by both parties, give the right for the client to go ahead and use the song without a formal confirmation. Meaning they won't write or call you to tell you the music was in fact used in the spot. They'll just do it. You may have to keep tabs on a show or a spot to get your own visual confirmation that your song was actually used. When the client is ready to move forward with licensing your song, you will likely receive two different agreements to sign, the Master Use License agreement and the Synchronization, also called Sync, License agreement.
