Cycling motion data: Creating cycles
- Once we have our character walking in place, we can cycle the animation. Now, when we cycle the animation, we need to pick the point where the cycle probably happens the easiest. Now, when you have motion-captured data, a lot of times the cycles don't sync up exactly, so it kind of just takes a keen eye and some practice to figure out where the best cycle point is. Now, I've kind of played with this before, so, for me, it looks like the best cycle points are starting at 40 here. Now what I'm doing is I'm actually going to cycle this on the passing position of the walk, so we could cycle it here at the extended position, or at the passing position, where one foot passes the other. And what I was finding with this data is that the extended positions are a little too different, and 40 syncs up pretty well with the next passing position at 65. So actually I want to go one back from 65 to 64, and cycle from 40 all the way up to 64. So the easiest way to do this is to basically select…
