- Hierarchies are also important for animation and a lot of times we'll need to connect objects together so that they move together. Now I have this car setup and while it looks all nice and dandy, it's not connected. You'll see we have car body, we have a little ski rack, tires and so on, but they're not connected into a hierarchy. If I were to select the car and move it, nothing else moves with it. But we want the tires of the car to move with it so I'm going to ahead and undo that. What we can do is, we can use our navigator to create hierarchies. This is very similar to how you would do it say in the Outliner in Maya. All you have to do is select an object and then drag it over another object. I'm going to select the ski rack and drag it over the car body. Then it will give me a menu option. One, is to Parent, and that's to create a hierarchy which is what we want to do.
